UPDATE for JULY 12th: We will be meeting in shelter #3 rather than shelter #4 this Sunday ONLY. To get to shelter #3, continue straight all the way to the back of the park and then circle through the back parking lot and begin coming back on the far side. Shelter #3 is just past the back bathrooms and there is a gravel lot near to it, or you can park in the paved back lot.
After 4 Sundays worshiping outdoors in Pungo, our worship services are moving to Red Wing Park! We will worship at Red Wing this Sunday, June 21st and plan to continue worshiping there until it is feasible and safe to return to our indoor space at the Princess Anne Rec Center.
Worshiping outside allows us to minimize the possibility of virus transmission and be more flexible about wearing masks. We still encourage mask-wearing for those who are comfortable and while you are in closer contact with others, but understand that singing in masks is not very pleasant!
Even though we are meeting outside and the overall Covid situation in Virginia continues to improve, it is important that we continue to observe appropriate precautions. Please DO NOT come if you have a fever or Covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed in the past 14 days. Also, we need to maintain 6-ft physical distancing and be especially careful with the coffee and bagels (wear a mask and use hand sanitizer before serving). If you are not able or would prefer not to join us in person, you can still join through the virtual church building.
We will still gather at 11 and begin worship at 11:15 and the service will continue to follow our normal pattern, including the Lord’s Supper at each service. However we will not be passing the communion elements hand to hand nor will we be collecting any physical offerings. Tithes and offerings may be made online as well as prayer requests.
At Red Wing Park, we will be meeting in picnic shelter #4. When you enter the park, you pass the Japanese Garden on the left and then park in the first main parking lot on the right. Shelter #4 is in the far corner by the playground. The shelter has picnic tables for seating or you may bring your own chairs to sit in. There are also public bathrooms next to the parking lot.
We expect to meet rain or shine, but in the case of severely inclement weather, please check the website before coming for any last-minute changes or updates. We have the capability to run the service entirely through Zoom if necessary. Hope to see you at Red Wing!
