In 2017, the Tidewater Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) formed the Princess Anne Mission to develop a new church community in the Princess Anne / Red Mill area of Virginia Beach. They then called Jimmy Brock to be the church planting pastor and he moved to Red Mill with his family at the end of 2017.
Throughout 2018 and 2019, a community began to form through person to person connections, neighborhood Bible studies, prayer meetings, and neighborhood cookouts. We also began to introduce more structured events like a summer sports camp, family camping trip, and preview worship services.
In September of 2019, Resurrection Community Church launched with weekly Sunday worship services. Initially, we met at the Princess Anne Rec center, but after six months, Covid forced us (along with everyone else) into online-only worship through Zoom. In May, we returned to in-person worship outdoors at Red Wing Park. In October of 2020, Victorious Living Church graciously invited us to share their space for worship as well as weekday activities.
In October of 2021, we moved our Sunday worship location back to the Princess Anne Rec Center, while maintaining our partnership with Victorious Living to begin our discipleship hour and continue weekday activities. The summer sports camp that began in 2018 expanded to three different locations in 2021 and five in 2022. In 2022, Resurrection initiated a Kingdom Expansion project, calling Alejandro Romero to pursue more substantial youth and young adult outreach, particularly within the military community and through leading the sports camp.
