THE GOSPEL STORY

Our central belief is the great story of God's work in the world. God made the world and everything in it for his own glory. He made people in his own image to steward the world and reflect his glory. Adam and Eve disobeyed God and sinned against him. Ever since, the image of God in people has been distorted, leading to all the evil and suffering we see in the world today. But God has graciously acted to restore the world to himself by sending his son Jesus to live a life of perfect righteousness and then die on the cross for the sake of sinners. Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death, and ascended back to heaven as king of God's everlasting kingdom. This kingdom is God's new family, made up of all those from every tribe, tongue, and nation who put their faith in Jesus and seek to obey him, empowered by the Holy Spirit.  Now, we see God's kingdom in part as his people love one another and do good in his name, but one day we will see it in full as Jesus returns to judge and rule the world forever.

THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS

Our beliefs and practices are founded first and foremost on God's revealed words to us in the Bible. The way we read and understand the Bible is shaped by the historic reading of the church, particularly the Reformed tradition. This understanding of the Bible is summarized in the Westminster Confession and Catechisms
