resources for reconciliation & Justice

(Note: This page is still under construction; the links should all work, but more explanations and context are coming soon!)

Introduction

This is a list of resources to help you grow in your understanding of and desire for reconciliation and justice across racial and cultural lines. These are designed as a starting point for a lifelong journey of further growth and understanding. Any such list is very incomplete and certainly cannot claim to be “the best”, but it is a start. Please contact us if you want to discuss any of what you’re reading/hearing here or want further resources.

As with any list of resources, being listed here does not constitue a blanket endorsement in any way. Rather, these are voices that we should take seriously and let them push us to reflect on what they are saying, especially if the messages are challenging or uncomfortable. All of the authors, speakers, and organizations listed here are Christians and most of them are within our denomination or closely connected.

Also keep in mind that different voices are addressing different audiences at different times. If you hear or read something that doesn’t sit well, consider three possibilities (generally in this order): 1) You may be wrong and their words are appropriately challenging you 2) They may be wrong, especially if it clearly contradicts the Bible 3) The words may be meant for someone else and not really apply to you. Even if they are primarily meant for someone else, listening well can help you learn to understand and empathize with people from different backgrounds.
