Triple News Update!

Alejandro Romero

The biggest news is that we have a new staff member at Resurrection! Alejandro Romero has been called to be our new Director of Discipleship and Outreach. He is a recent graduate of Gordon-Conwell Seminary and an officer in the Army Reserve as a chaplain candidate with a variety of ministry experience in Boston and in Southern California. Upon examination and approval by our presbytery (regional body), he will be ordained as a pastor.

Alejandro will be leading our expanding camp program, particularly directing and mentoring the high school and college staff at each site, engaging in youth and young adult discipleship in both civilian and military communities, and serving as chaplain in the Army Reserve.

For more details about Alejandro, the new ministries he will be leading, and how you can support this, check out our Kingdom Expansion page.

Summer’s Best Two Weeks

Our SB2W sports camp is open for registration and is filling up fast! Summer’s Best Two Weeks is a transformative camp experience for grades K-8th to introduce kids to a variety of sports, develop their skills, and teach them to honor God and one another in the way they compete in sports and all of life.

Our camp in Red Mill is July 11-22 for K-8th graders, but we also have 4 other one-week locations this year around Virginia Beach and Chesapeake:

  • June 27-July 1 in Kempsville

  • July 5-8 in Western Branch

  • July 25-29 in Chesapeake

  • August 1-5 in Indian River

High school students can volunteer as junior counselors at any of the locations and college-age young adults can be paid to work the whole summer as senior counselors. Check out the SB2W page for camper registration details and counselor information!

Easter
Easter is coming up and we have a lot of exciting things planned for Easter. We’re hosting Easter egg hunts in 3 different neighborhoods. We have special Palm Sunday worship as well as an Easter Sunrise Service at the Oceanfront and Easter in the Park at Red Wing Park. Check out the Easter page for all the details! We would love to see you at one or more of these events as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the new community that he formed through that resurrection.
