Advent at Resurrection - A Tale of 4 Kings

This Sunday begins the season of Advent in the church calendar. Advent is the 4 Sundays leading up to Christmas and is often a time of recalling God's promises and the keeping of those promises in the birth of Jesus.

The reason we recall God's keeping of his promises in the birth of Jesus is to renew our confidence in the ongoing promise that Jesus will come once again to restore all things.

With that focus on Jesus' return in kingly glory, on Sunday mornings during Advent, we'll continue hearing God's Word from Daniel. The next four chapters of Daniel give us snapshots of four different kings.

Nov 29 - The Humbled King: Daniel 4 tells the last story of Nebuchadnezzar, how he was a great king with glory and power, but had to be humbled by God by becoming like a wild beast in the field.

Dec 6 - The Foolish King: Daniel 5 tells the story of Belshazzar, son of Nebuchadnezzar, who failed to learn from his father’s humbling and was summarily removed from his kingship.

Dec 13 - The Powerless King: Daniel 6 tells the story of Darius, who was manipulated by his advisors to have Daniel killed, but couldn’t kill Daniel either, since Daniel was protected by the true God.

Dec 20 - The Ultimate King: Daniel 7 takes us to prophetic visions of the future and the coming king from heaven who will rule over the whole world forever in righteousness and justice.

If you’re looking for hope and encouragement and community in challenging times, we’d love for you to join us for one or more of these Advent worship services. We meet at 9:15 AM in the building of Victorious Living Church (between Jose Tequilas and the Princess Anne Rec Center). You can find all the details of our services and Covid precautions here.
